Perch

A calm, always-on display for the phone on your desk.

Most phones spend the day face-up doing nothing. Stand yours up, open Perch, and it becomes a glanceable desk clock — the time readable across the room, the weather in the corner, a quote to sit with. No notifications, no feed, nothing asking for your attention.

What's on screen

Everything is optional, and everything you change applies instantly.

Clock

A big, clean time display that fills the screen in portrait or landscape. 12- or 24-hour, optional seconds, optional date.

Weather

Current conditions for any city, in °C or °F. Search once and it stays put.

Battery

A small charge readout in the corner. A phone left standing all day is exactly where “is the cable actually charging?” is worth answering at a glance.

Stocks beta

A short watchlist — up to five tickers, picked from a list. Prices are delayed, so it says so on screen. Off until you turn it on.

Quote of the day

A curated offline collection that changes at midnight. Choose the categories you want: inspirational, wisdom, stoic, tech, or proverbs.

Word of the day

A word a day in Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Japanese, with an example sentence and pronunciation. Off by default.

Stopwatch & timer

Tucked into a low-profile icon rail at the edge of the screen — out of the way until you need them.

One at a time

Switch on more than one panel and they take turns rather than stacking, so the clock stays large and each gets the full width. Or show them all at once.

Your typeface

Eight bundled typefaces plus your system font, with separate picks for the clock and everything else.

Built for leaving on

A screen that stays lit all day is a different problem from a screen you look at for thirty seconds. Perch treats it that way.

Night dim

Set the hours you sleep and Perch fades toward true black, dropping the screen brightness with it. No glare at 2am.

Follows the room

Optional ambient light sensing dims the display as the room darkens, on a curve that matches how your eyes actually adjust.

Burn-in protection

The display shifts by a couple of pixels each minute, so nothing etches itself into an OLED panel.

Whole screen

The status and navigation bars are hidden by default, so nothing but the display itself is lit — and they come back with one setting if you want them.

Stays awake

The screen holds while Perch is open, so it's ready whenever you glance over. True black by design, so unlit pixels stay unlit.

Quiet by default

A thing you leave running on your desk should not be watching you back.

  • No account, no sign-up. Open it and it works.
  • No ads, no tracking, no analytics. Perch collects nothing about you.
  • Your settings stay on your device and are deleted when you uninstall.
  • Network only for the widgets that need it. Weather comes from Open-Meteo; stock quotes come from Perch's own server, and only once you add a ticker. The clock, battery, quotes, words, and tools all work with no connection at all.
  • No location permission. You pick your city by name; Perch never asks the device where you are.
