Privacy Policy

For the Perch Android app (package xyz.straycode.bgrunner).
Effective 24 July 2026. Last updated 24 July 2026.

Perch does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking of any kind. Everything below is the detail behind that sentence.

Information Perch does not collect

Perch has no server. It does not collect, and its developer never receives:

Information stored on your device

Perch saves your settings — clock format, chosen city, units, typefaces, quote categories, night-dim schedule, and similar preferences — to a single file in the app's private storage area on your device. That file never leaves the device. It is not backed up to any service by Perch, and Android deletes it when you uninstall the app.

Weather data that has already been fetched is kept in memory so the display still shows a last-known reading when the network is unavailable.

Network connections

Perch makes network requests for exactly one feature: weather. Both requests go to Open-Meteo, a free weather API, and neither carries an API key, a device identifier, or anything identifying you.

As with any internet request, Open-Meteo necessarily sees the IP address the request comes from. Their handling of that is governed by their own terms and privacy policy, linked from open-meteo.com. If you do not use the weather widget, Perch makes no network requests at all — the clock, quotes, word of the day, stopwatch, and timer are entirely offline and bundled with the app.

Permissions Perch uses

Perch requests no other permissions.

Data sharing and selling

Perch has no data about you to share. Nothing is sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties, because nothing is collected in the first place.

Children

Perch is a clock and desk display suitable for general audiences. It collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

This website

These pages are static. They set no cookies, run no analytics, and load no fonts, scripts, or images from third-party services. The provider hosting these pages may keep standard server access logs, as web hosts generally do.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Perch handles data differently — for example if the planned news or stock-ticker widgets add new data sources — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app after an update means the revised policy applies.
